About Statton
Statton Furniture
Philo Statton and his wife Helen started Statton Furniture in 1926 with an aim to make fine, handcrafted furniture in simple workshops. Their vision was to create heirloom-quality pieces of furniture that Americans would proudly pass down for generations. Even when they reached national distribution in the 1960s, each piece of furniture was still handmade and finished with several hand-rubbed coats of stain. During their time in production they expanded from a simple line of bedroom furniture made of Appalachian cherry into a selection that included furniture for the dining room, office, and occasional furniture.

Styling Statton Furniture
At first blush it may seem as if Statton Furniture is all about luxurious traditional European furniture styles like Italian Provincial or Queen Anne. Of course, they did craft these styles masterfully from rich cherry and mahogany woods, finishing them by hand until they glowed. But we also offer pieces from what is generally considered Statton’s most popular line, which was their Trutype Americana line. True to the breadth of the American experience, the Trutype line features solid hardwood construction from Hard Rock maple, cherry, oak, and walnut. The finishes bring out the natural beauty of the wood they constructed each piece from. The Trutype line marries form and function. Mid-century modern style furniture is not unheard of from Statton, though it is rare.
