About Sligh
Sligh Furniture Company
Now under the parent company Lexington Furniture Industries, Sligh Furniture Company’s roots trace back to 1880. Charles R. Sligh learned the furniture trade as a finisher and salesman for Berkey & Gay before starting his own businesses. After starting Sligh Furniture Company, in 1883 he got into the lumber business with the Honduras Mahogany Company, which purchased Honduran mahogany timber to be cut in New Orleans and taken to Grand Rapids where artisans turned it into Sligh brand furniture.

Styling Sligh Furniture
With pieces that span styles from Art Nouveau to Italian Provincial and Neoclassical and beyond, styling Sligh Furniture pieces is an adventure. Sligh produced a variety of furniture pieces, including asymmetrical bureaus, chiffoniers, dressers, and other bedroom occasional furniture from maple, birch, mahogany, and oak. Bedroom suites made by Sligh Furniture were owned by presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison, so you can expect to add a hefty dose of welcome gravitas to any room you grace with a product of Sligh. These pieces are for someone who wants the furniture to be noticed, regardless of if you pair it with smooth modern styles or variations of traditional furniture.
