Ethan Allen furniture has a rich history that spans over 80 years.

The company was founded in 1932 by two brothers-in-law, Nathan Ancell and Theodore Baumritter. They started out by making housewares and small furniture items in a garage in Beecher Falls, Vermont. However, they quickly expanded their product offerings and began producing larger pieces of furniture.

In the 1950s, the company began to focus on traditional styles of furniture. In 1962, they changed their name to Ethan Allen. The American revolutionary war hero Ethan Allen, known for his leadership in the Green Mountain Boys and his commitment to the ideals of liberty and independence, is the inspiration behind the brand name.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Ethan Allen continued to grow, expanding their product line to include a wider range of styles, from traditional to modern. They also opened their first international store in Toronto, Canada in 1984.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Ethan Allen continued to evolve, introducing new designs and materials, and expanding their reach into the global market. They also became known for their commitment to sustainability, with initiatives such as using eco-friendly materials and reducing waste.

Today

Today, Ethan Allen is one of the largest furniture retailers in the United States, with over 300 locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The company is still based in Vermont. Ethan Allen continues to focus on quality craftsmanship, timeless design, and sustainable practices.
