About Stickley

Stickley Furniture

Stickley Furniture is one of those brands that has made a name for itself beyond just the high quality of their furniture, but for being innovators on entire movements. Gustav Stickley was an ambitious first generation American who went from working in his uncle’s chair factory to starting Stickley Brothers & Company in 1883. After five years he was on to the next venture, Stickley & Simonds. During the 1890s he was a foreman of furniture operations for the Auburn State Prison. Right before the turn of the century he started the Gustave Stickley Company and worked with designer Henry Wilkinson to create a line of furniture in the Arts and Crafts style, changed the name of his company to United Crafts, and published a catalogue called The Craftsman.

Styling Stickley Furniture

Stickley Furniture is perfect for any lover of traditional styles. Our selection includes a variety of beautiful Queen Anne styles in solid cherry wood. Stickley Furniture is designed to reflect honest construction, faithfulness to the materials used, and a simplicity of form. The hand-rubbed finishes applied to Stickley pieces enhance the natural beauty of the solid wood construction. While the style of furniture the firm was best known for was often referred to as being Mission style, Stickley himself found that term to be misleading. Whatever name you want to give the style, there is no denying the traditional influence on many popular pieces. Pair a set of Queen Anne dining chairs with your contemporary table, or offset your bedframe with a beautiful cabriole-legged end table.
